Sonoma Valley Pride Presents Beyond the Rainbow

Sonoma Valley Pride in partnership with Out In The Vineyard and Wake UP Sonoma is proud to present Beyond the Rainbow, a short documentary film screening on Saturday, March 15, at 3:00 PM at the historic Sebastiani Theatre in Sonoma. Doors will open at 2:30 PM. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sonoma Valley Pride and its ongoing mission to celebrate, support, and uplift the LGBTQ+ community in Sonoma Valley.

The 50th Anniversary of Rocky Horror Picture Show Sells out

Sonoma Valley Pride’s first-ever movie fundraiser has sold out! We couldn’t be prouder of the work we put into this and, of course, the community’s turnout. Saturday, November 8, we will honor the 50th Anniversary of Rocky Horror Picture Show with a screening, costume contest, performances by Addaboob and Lydia Darling, and sing loud and proud with 300 of the liveliest people in Sonoma. The night will be filled with nostalgia and new experiences.

At 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, Sonoma, the City of Sonoma will be formally recognizing June as Pride Month by delivering a proclamation of support for the LGBTQIA+ community, and declaring June as Pride Month.  This will happen at the June 18th City Council meeting at 6:00 pm.  All are welcome to attend in the City Council Chambers.  The Proclamation is to be read by Mayor Patricia Farrar-Rivas.

Gary Saperstein helps keep pride alive in a time of COVID

“The goal with the banners is recognition of our community and, also, for our locals who live here and for the tourists who come into our town, to let people know what kind of community we have here,” Saperstein said. “We are a community that believes in equality and inclusiveness and diversity.”

“This year will have a different feel than any other year that I can remember in my lifetime, as Prides have been canceled across the country,” says Gary Saperstein, founder of Out in the Vineyard, an experiential Wine Country event and travel company for the LGBTQ+ community. “It is quite disheartening to know that we will not be able to gather as a community to celebrate who we are today and those who came before us.”

Sonoma Believes in Equality

For years Sonoma City Hall has raised the Rainbow flag in support for its LGBTQ residents and visitors during Gay Wine Weekend. Starting in June 2020, Sonoma goes farther by raising the pride flag and lining the square with our Sonoma Valley Pride banners for the entire month of June.
